Domaine Paul Thomas

The little village of Chavignol, just east of Sancerre, is home to the modest but fine ‘Domaine Paul Thomas’ and boasts perhaps the finest terroir of the appellation.

Paul Thomas has something over 10 hectares, most of which are on the famous Côte de Mont Damnés.  The South facing slopes allow 3 hectares of Pinot Noir grapes to achieve good levels of ripeness and produce red wines with lots of fruit and true Pinot Noir nose and character.  The chalky clay soils give the 7 hectares of Sauvignon its distinctive gooseberry tang, with fruit that develops slowly in bottle.
